We had an amazing time at Tamworth Castle where we were able to bring our History topic to life. We learned more about life in Saxon times and that the capital of the Saxon kingdom of Mercia was right here in Tamworth, 
 

This morning Mrs Gethin and Ralph came into school to collect our travelling tale, ‘Pig the Pug’. We showed them all of the wonderful things we have been doing in Class 1 over the last couple of weeks and gave the special book back to her. We had filled it with lots of photos and pieces of work…

Class 2 had a great time exploring black cat’s midnight story about the ‘or’ grapheme. They enjoyed using chalk, torches and their wonderful phonics skills to explore the ‘or’ sound. Great work children!

We have had a wonderful week learning all about Australia. We had lots of fun painting and decorating our own boomerangs and didgeridoos. We listened to some pieces of music which contained the sound of the didgeridoo and learned how the sounds can be made into animal sounds.

Arrived safely after only a slight hold up on the motorway. Lunch and then off to the city centre for The Jorvik Centre and Dig. Brilliant time. Back to the centre for dinner and currently designing and painting Viking shields.  All children happy and tired (I hope!!). Enjoy the photos.

This week in Class 1 we have kick started our ‘Around the World’ topic by flying to Australia (imaginatively). We had lots of fun pretending to pack our suitcases, travelled to the airport and board a plane. We watched a video which showed us the view from an aeroplane landing in Sydney. We…

The children in class two have proved what wonderful scientists they are. They demonstrated their learning about the parts of the plants and their functions by designing and making a flower, then labelling the parts and their functions. Another practical and fun science lesson!

 Class know the story Katie in London really well now. Before they start writing a retelling of the story next week, they acted out key parts of the story, retelling key phrases. Great work everyone!

During computing lessons, Class 2 practised giving each other clear instructions. Once they mastered doing this, they used this skill to program the bee bots clear instructions to move around  a map. Great work children!

We had a wonderful walk around Elford with our travelling tale cuddly toy, Pig the Pug. We showed him the sites of the village including the pub, the village hall and the park. The children were excited to show Pig around the village. Even though it was a little bit wet, we all had a lovely walk.
